Come on! Let’s celebrate the wonders of nature. You can do it right in your own back yard. This year’s observation of Earth Day will take place on the 22nd of April. This Earth Day will mark a milestone for humanity and our planet-home, as well. It will be the fortieth anniversary of the global event that encourages all people to do something good for the planet we share. All sorts of people from all over the world will be planting trees, cleaning up polluted rivers and streams and contributing their time and energy to helping improve the environment. It’s a day for us all to say “thanks” to the earth by doing something healthy for the planet. So, why not offer it a big beautiful bouquet of flowers? Wildflowers would be best. Add a package of wildflower seeds to an open field or a roadside ditch and you will be offering up the perfect gift for Mother Earth on her special day.
Whether you decide to join forces with one of the many environmental activist groups that hold annual Earth Day programs, or you opt to celebrate the planet all by yourself, you are bound to find that a few wildflower seeds will not set you back too much financially. You can also bank on the fact that the rewards that come from watching them grow and then flower will make you feel like a million bucks. Best of all, if left undisturbed, wildflowers will re-seed and replant themselves. They provide food for insects and birds, and offer the bee and butterfly a place to find pollen and nectar. So, create your very own natural wonder with a little effort, a few seeds, and a glad heart. Don’t forget, on Earth Day, we can all do something to help the planet.
